Z 2135 and Talking About Our Books

One day to go until  Z 2135 launches…

I’m excited to see how this season will be received by readers.

Thoughts going into this season:

• Will YOU love it?
• Will haters still keep hating? Just waiting for the first, “the Simpson’s did it” comment.
• What you will think of a few of the more WTF moments. I wish I could sit there and watch your face as you read it. 
  

No, that wouldn’t be creepy at all.

Short of watching your face as you read, I would love to have some actual reader interaction this time around.

One of the things I love about TV shows like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and such, is that there’s all these blogs and podcasts and shit where people are talking about what they just watched. As a fan, I love it because it feels like an almost communal experience.

But books are so much more personal, and not everyone is reading at the same time, so it’s harder to pull off.

I tried to do something to offer readers a place to talk with water cooler posts at Collective Inkwell, but I’m pretty sure I went about it all wrong, didn’t promote it enough, etc…

Amazon has started forums for each episode of their Kindle Serials. It would be awesome if readers showed up there to talk about each episode after they finish it.

I know our publisher would like to see us involved in the forums. During the first season, I wasn’t sure if we were welcome in the forums, or if they were just a place for readers and the author shouldn’t intrude.

But 47North said, “Oh, no, all the most awesome authors are heavily involved in their forums, and their readers love them.”

So now I guess Sean and I should try and drum up some support at the forums.

Maybe I’ll post this pic of me there to show how friendly and approachable I am?
